Symptoms

  • Teams shows 'We are sorry, we have run into an issue'
  • The app launches briefly and then closes
  • No specific error code is visible

Possible causes

  • Corrupt local cache
  • Outdated Teams version
  • Conflicting add-ins or third-party tools
  • Missing WebView2 component

Solutions

1.Clear cache (classic and new client)

  1. Quit Teams via Task Manager.

  2. For the classic client delete this folder.

    %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
  3. For the new client delete this folder.

    %localappdata%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
  4. Restart Teams.

2.Update to the latest version

  1. Open the Microsoft Store or the Microsoft 365 app.

  2. Check for Teams updates.

  3. Install all pending updates and reboot.

3.Install the WebView2 runtime

  1. Download the runtime from the official Microsoft page.

  2. Install the Evergreen version with admin rights.

  3. Reboot.

If nothing helps, collect logs from %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\logs.txt and send them to your IT team. The real error code usually shows up there.
