0xCAA70004 Severity: High

Token could not be refreshed

Teams cannot refresh the auth token and reports 0xCAA70004. A clean sign-in reset usually fixes it.

Symptoms

  • Teams reports 0xCAA70004 on launch
  • Sign-in is rejected even though the password is correct
  • MFA prompt appears repeatedly

Possible causes

  • Expired refresh token in cache
  • Tenant MFA settings changed
  • Corrupt WebView2 component

Solutions

1.Reset web credentials

  1. Open Credential Manager in Windows.

  2. Delete all entries containing 'Microsoft' or 'msTeams'.

  3. Restart Teams and sign in again.

2.Repair the WebView2 runtime

  1. Open 'Apps and Features' and find 'Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime'.

  2. Click 'Modify' and choose 'Repair'.

  3. Reboot the machine.

3.Clear the Teams cache fully

  1. Quit Teams via Task Manager.

  2. Delete this folder.

  3. Launch Teams and sign in fresh.

If the problem persists after these steps, ask your IT to perform a fresh token reset in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
