Notifications not arriving in Teams
You miss chats because Teams does not notify, or only late. These places affect the behavior.
Affected systems
Quick fixes
- In Teams: profile, Settings, Notifications
- OS level: grant Teams notification permission
- Mobile: disable battery optimization for Teams
Three layers to check
Notifications are controlled in three places:
- In Teams (Settings, Notifications)
- In the OS (app permissions)
- Per channel or chat (mute status)
If all three are right and it still does not work, it is a cache problem.
Windows: Focus mode
Windows Focus mode or ‘Do not disturb’ silently suppresses notifications. Check the quick settings to see if it is active.
macOS: Notifications
System Settings, Notifications, Microsoft Teams. Make sure ‘Allow notifications’ is on and the style is ‘Banner’ or ‘Alert’.
Mobile: battery optimization
On Android the battery optimizer pauses Teams in the background. Configure under Apps, Microsoft Teams, Battery, ‘Unrestricted’.
Status set to Do Not Disturb
If your status is manually set to ‘Do not disturb’, every toast is lost - even calls. Check the status indicator top right.
Cache issues
If everything is configured correctly but still silent: clear the Teams cache.
