Silent sign-in failed

Teams could not re-authenticate without user interaction. Sign in once manually, then silent renewal works again.

Symptoms

  • AADSTS50058 appears, often in the background
  • Unexpected sign-in prompt after sleep or reboot
  • MFA prompt sometimes appears mid-session

Possible causes

  • Browser or client session token expired
  • Tenant policy requires periodic re-MFA
  • Multiple accounts in the browser confuse SSO

Solutions

1.Sign in manually once

  1. When the prompt appears, just complete password and MFA.

  2. Teams will remember the session afterwards.

2.Clear browser cookies

  1. Open the site-data settings in your browser.

  2. Delete cookies for login.microsoftonline.com and teams.microsoft.com.

  3. Restart the browser and sign in once.

3.Review active sessions

  1. Open https://mysignins.microsoft.com.

  2. Review recent sign-ins and active sessions.

  3. Sign out suspicious devices, then restart the local client.

AADSTS50058 is mostly noise. If it appears once a week, that is tenant policy. If it appears constantly, check browser accounts and cache.
