Teams calendar not syncing with Outlook
Events missing or showing up late. The link between Teams and Outlook goes through Exchange and can break at multiple points.
Affected systems
Quick fixes
- Sign out of Teams and back in
- Check Outlook on the web at https://outlook.office.com
- If only Outlook desktop is broken: rebuild the Outlook profile
Where is the source of truth?
The Teams calendar is a view on your Exchange calendar. If an event is missing in Teams, check Outlook on the web first. If it shows up there, Teams is just stale. If it also misses there, the event is really gone.
Refresh Teams cache
For a stale Teams cache, delete:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
and restart Teams. On first login the events reload fresh.
Repair Outlook profile
If Outlook desktop hangs but Outlook web works, the profile is corrupt:
- Quit Outlook.
- Control Panel, Mail, Profiles.
- Remove current profile, add a new one.
- Start Outlook - it syncs fresh.
Sync lag
Events can take up to 15 minutes to appear across devices. For repeated lag, signing out and back in on one of the affected clients usually helps.
Hybrid Exchange
In hybrid environments (on-prem Exchange plus Cloud) a routing issue can cause missing events. Only IT can fix that constellation.
